Peter Reimer is the Managing Partner of PRA Group which he founded in 1985 and was the first outsourced internal audit services provider to financial institutions in Western Canada. Prior to starting PRA Group in 1985, he worked in public practice for five years and completed his training at a national firm of chartered accountants. In terms of experience, Peter has led the mission of Internal Audit at large and diverse organizations such as Industrial Alliance Pacific, BC Securities Commission, Envision Financial as well as other financial services and government agencies. Peter has conducted over thirty five forensic investigations in the past twenty two years ranging in size from a few thousand dollars to in excess of a million dollars and in the legal scrutiny of the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Peter has developed close and effective working relationships with leading civil and criminal litigators in supporting their civil and criminal objectives. In addition to conducting forensic investigations, Peter has extensive experience in governance, risk and compliance and information technology audit and assurance services across a client asset base in excess of fifteen billion dollars. This experience and strategic perspective come not only from financial services firms but also regulatory authorities and crown agencies.
Jeremy Picco is a PRA Group Partner and leads Treasury Risk Services for PRA Group. He has also led key special project assignments on behalf of banking and securities regulators which have led to changes in their regulatory approach. In 2004, Jeremy led the examination of provincially chartered insurance companies on behalf of FICOM using a newly adopted risk based supervisory framework. Jeremy completed his Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance at the University of British Columbia, and then obtained his Chartered Accountant designation with KPMG. While working abroad in Bermuda, Jeremy completed his Chartered Financial Analyst designation and became a Certified Internal Auditor while working in Vancouver. Jeremy draws on seven years of public practice experience in the financial services industry as well as two years experience as a senior financial manager in a multinational publicly listed insurance company in Australia.
Edward Olson is a PRA Group Partner and leads the B.C. Interior region and Alberta practice of PRA Group specializing in providing Risk Management counsel to a variety of clients in the financial services industry. He serves as Chief Audit Executive for a number of clients, leading the internal audit practice to provide high quality, risk based services that are compliant with IIA Quality Assurance Standards and instill a risk management tone throughout all organizations. Mr. Olson has extensive experience implementing ERM frameworks across many clients within the financial services industry. Edward Olson completed his Bachelor of Commerce Co-op degree at the University of Alberta followed by obtaining his Chartered Accountant designation with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Edmonton, Alberta. He draws on 10 years of public practice experience from the United Kingdom to North America in external financial statement auditing, performance improvement, risk management, internal audit, climate change advisory services, and Sarbanes-Oxley project management and implementation.
Doug Cruickshank is a PRA Group Partner and directs the development and implementation of professional service policies and practices for the PRA Group, which has placed the firm at the forefront of innovative, value-add services to our clients. He also serves as the chief auditor for a large B.C. credit union client of the PRA Group.
Besides having a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia, Doug is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Information Systems Auditor with nearly 30 years of internal and external audit experience. Most recently, Doug was the Chief Internal Auditor for Canada’s largest English speaking credit union, Vancouver City Savings Credit Union. Prior to that position Doug was Chief Internal Auditor for Terasen Inc., when, as a Western Canadian holding company traded on the TSX, it operated a large oil, natural gas and water distribution and transportation business. In addition to his leadership roles as an Internal Audit executive, Doug was an external audit Partner and the National Technology Risk Management services leader for Grant Thornton LLP. Doug is also a major contributor to the audit and risk management profession, having served as President of the Vancouver Chapters for both the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, and contributing as a frequent lecturer on professional matters.
